Angels
by: Eloise Greenfield (1998)
Angels is a book of poems written by Eloise Greenfield. The poems were inspired by the illustrations in the book done by Jan Spivey Gilchrist. Jan drew these angels because they were so important to her as a child. Ms. Greenfield wanted to show how important angels are to the world, and wrote these angles as little children watching over us. The angels are there for us, watching over, taking care of everyone. The poems are sincere, and truly show what Jan wanted them to represent.
This book is an excellent tool to teach students about poetry. It might be hard to implement in the classroom because it does have religious undertones to the poems. Although it does have this, it is a wonderful assortment of poems that should be showcased.
